Stealing is one act which, what ever way it is looked at, is an act of being bad. I struggle to think of any examples where stealing is justified. After thinking the only examples i could come up with were, stealing something back which originally belonging to you or stealing from the rich and giving to the poor (robin hood style), but even those are still not morally right. It we look at Islamic law it 'prescribes that a thief’s hand should be cut, but such punishment is never inflicted when there is the slightest doubt that the thief was impelled to crime by hunger. It can only be applied if goods stolen are over a set value and consideration is given to whether this is a first offence or the person is a compulsive thief. Its effectiveness as a deterrent can be demonstrated in that in a 400 year period when it was applied 6 people had their hand cut off.' I know it is an extreme way of looking stealing but it is an example of one way stealing is handling in Islamic culture and how it seems to have had a positive effect on reducing theft crimes.

I agree stealing can not be justified. I think HARSH rules are a good way to stop this problem. The rules and reglations in Dubai are very good for society and to stop all the bad things happening because of the consequences.
